FMT have helped a client in develop a tool and plastic moulding process that will produce a new version of the classic optics design seen in pubs and bars up and down the country.

 

Traditionally manufactured from metal, the new design will be made from plastic and TPU rubber.

 

There are many advantages to the design including better stability, quicker and easier to use, safer cleaner materials, ability to manufacture in a wide range of colours, and ease of manufacture.

 

As well as helping with the tooling and plastic moulding, FMT also helped with the CAD design to eliminate potential problems in the design making it easier to mould.

 

Once the CAD design was complete a prototype part was made to test the functionality. Once tested, the tooling was made and the first 1000 items were manufactured.
